The weather as it has been for about 9 nine days now, continues to be a challenge. We are going ahead with the plan to have school start at regular time with a 1:30 PM dismissal. Buses this morning will travel where possible. Highways are in better shape then they were yesterday morning, the gravel roads are starting to fill in. It will be drifting all day long so those that live in difficult areas you certainly may keep your child home today and they will not be counted absent, please call the school, and let us know. If anyone else feels it is too dangerous to send their child to school today again, please call the school and they will not be counted absent. Hopefully the weather start to 2023 will be much better. Thank you.

North Star's FIRST Lego League team is conducting a survey to learn about our community's preparedness for power outages. This data will help us prepare our Innovation Project for the regional competition in January. Please take a few minutes to respond, and if you are on Facebook, share so others can participate as well. Thank you! https://forms.office.com/r/XYKAUPbJvc

Here are the activity changes. No GBB games tonight with Park River in Starkweather. We will now play Park River in Starkweather on Thursday December 22nd at 2:00 PM with two games (JH,A) and this will be parent afternoon. We will dismiss school at 1:30 PM on December 22nd instead of 2:30 PM and there will not be After School Daycare that day. The BBB games in Cavalier are currently still on but there has been a change in that schedule. There will not be a Junior High game. There will only be B and A starting at 1:30 PM. Leave time will be 10:15 AM and we are working on the transportation method. If the roads do not improve by tomorrow morning these games will be postponed. The GBB games with DVE scheduled for yesterday has been tentatively moved to January 10th. This may be moved if they are unable to find officials. The weekly activity schedule that was posted yesterday has been modified so please check that schedule for the most up to date information. The calendar on the website should also be up to date.

Weather conditions have not improved. Therefore we will Distance Learn today. JH/HS Students will use the 10:30 AM schedule that was posted yesterday and used yesterday. Hopefully Monday we will all be back in school. Thank you.

This is wishful thinking on our part, but we are hoping that the weather will improve by tomorrow morning so that we can have in person school tomorrow. As of right now we are planning on a 10:30 AM start. If it continues to snow and blow all night long that will be changed tomorrow morning to distance learning. Because there is a high probability that it will snow and blow all night long everyone should be prepared for another day of distant learning. We will let you know early tomorrow morning which direction we are going. Thank you.

Late Start Schedule
This is a message from the North Star School. The weather does not want to let up as another rough round of weather is forecasted for tomorrow. The current plan for tomorrow is to start in person school at 10:30 AM. There will not be morning Pre-School or breakfast. Buses will run on paved roads only so please contact your bus driver for a pickup location. If you live out of the city of Cando and have not been able to dig out yet call the school and let us know and your child will not be counted absent. If your child is still not 100 percent healthy keep them home another day. If there is a change from the late start to distance learning that instant alert will come out tomorrow morning no later than 8:30 AM. Thank you.

Sorry, this is a little late, but we just got back from the BB game and roads are fairly icy. Because of the poor road conditions and we had about 18 percent of our students out today because of sickness we will distance learn tomorrow and Wednesday and then reassess on Wednesday to determine the status for Thursday. Students in the JH/HS are expected to be online during their scheduled classes tomorrow and Wednesday. Elementary students have their work packets, and all elementary teachers will be available to help tomorrow and Wednesday during the day so if there are questions contact your child's teacher. We will do disaffecting of all classrooms tomorrow. Thank you and have a good evening.
