This is a message from the North Star School. Because of the weather conditions, school will be letting out at 2:00 PM today. Buses will run on paved roads only, no gravel. After School Child Care will be open until 3:30 PM. There will be no after school activities.
The Lil Cats volleyball game scheduled in Lakota today has been cancelled.
The Color Run scheduled for Friday, April 21 is postponed until Tuesday, May 23. School will now dismiss at regular time on Friday (3:15 PM).
Elementary parents: There are a limited number of Shrine Circus tickets available for giveaway. If you'd like to take your family to the Shrine Circus in Grand Forks on April 28, 29, or 30, please contact the school and we will send your requested number of tickets until gone!
Mrs. Olson’s Pre-K students learned about a chickens life cycle and waited patiently for 21 days for their incubated eggs to hatch! 🐣
Some extra pictures of the Legislative Trip attended by Seniors and Juniors on March 14th. We would like to say thank you to Farmers Union for providing a charter bus and transportation to Bismarck. We would also like to say thank you to our legislators for providing pizza for lunch. Legislators Weston, Davis, Henderson, Frelich, Johnson, and Estenson.

Carnival starts tonight at 6 in the gym with supper available at 5:30 in the lunchroom. These are just a few of the many prizes we'll have available and we're also giving away N* bags to the first 50 kids. Hope to see you tonight!

The North Star School has the following extra-curricular openings for the 2023-24 school year. Assistant Volleyball Coach, Head Girls’ Basketball Coach, Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach, and Junior High Girls Basketball Coach. An application can be found on the school’s website. The North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals announced the 2023 North Dakota Academic All-State Teams. Two hundred two high school seniors were nominated by their school principal and competed for statewide honors in both Class A and B divisions. Student selection for Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention Teams are based on grade-point averages, ACT or SAT scores, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and leadership qualities. Dawson was selected to the Honorable Mention Team and will be awarded a Certificate of Merit from the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals at the Senior Banquet in May.
At North Star Dawson participates in football, track, band, vocal music, and is a part of the school musical. He will attend Lake Region State College next Fall.

The weather is slowly improving but unfortunately the condition of the roads is not. Many roads, both gravel and highways, are closed/blocked. With the number of students and staff that are currently blocked in and the possibility of them not getting out for even a late start of school tomorrow, we will Distance Learn tomorrow. Staff will be available all day tomorrow if you have questions contact them for help. JH/HS students will follow the same schedule they have had for the past two days. We will resume in person learning on Tuesday April 11th. Thank you and have a good evening.
