SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
May 31, 2023
The North Star Public School District #10 school board met for a special session on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in North Star Room 101.
PRESENT: Chris Doehler, Michelle Gibbens, Jeremiah Halley, Vickie Jacksen, Jeana Jorde, Brooks Larson, Paul Wagenman. Administration: Jeff Hagler, Nancy Reiser, Cathy Johnson. ABSENT: Jessica Gunderson. VISITORS: None.Board President Jacksen called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. There were no changes to the agenda.
High School Principal’s Report: Nancy Reiser reported on the high school principal interview process and the interview committee’s recommendation.
MOTION was made by Jeana Jorde, seconded by Jeremiah Halley, to approve a 200-day contract offer to Eric Nygaard for the Secondary Principal position at a salary of $75,000, full family health insurance coverage, annuity of $1,500 and district payment of 3.5% of the employee TFFR contribution. MOTION CARRIED on a roll call vote: Doehler-yes, Gibbens-yes, Halley-yes, Jorde-yes, Larson-yes, Wagenman-yes, Jacksen-yes.The board discussed revising Nancy Reiser’s teaching contract to include additional duties for Assistant Principal/
Consultant and Library Administration, with a revised compensation package to be developed by the negotiating committee.
Activity Director’s Report: Mr. Hagler reported on proposed project to redo the baseball field outfield (regrading, new fill, sprinklers), with a total district commitment of $100,000 for the baseball and football field projects and additional financing to be raised through community/business pledges. Also reported on search for a roofing contractor.
Superintendent’s Report: Mr. Hagler discussed transition to new administration. Reported no response yet to contract offer for the music teacher position. The school will lease a vehicle for two months for this year’s drivers ed class.
Old Business: School board election will be held Tuesday, June 13 at the school.
The next meeting on June 26th, 2023 at 7:30 a.m. in Room 101 will be the election canvassing and regular meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 8:21 a.m.
