SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
May 1, 2023
The School Board of North Star Public School District #10 met for a special session on Monday, May 1, 2023 in North Star Room 101.
PRESENT: Chris Doehler, Michelle Gibbens, Jeremiah Halley, Vickie Jacksen, Jeana Jorde, Brooks Larson, Paul Wagenman. Administration: Nancy Reiser, Jessica Gunderson, Cathy Johnson. VISITORS: Bryan Haugen and Tyler Olsen - Superintendent Interview Committee members. Board President Jacksen called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Principals’/Activities Director Reports:
Elementary Principal’s report by Ms. Gunderson: Discussed interviews of 3 foreign teacher candidates for open kindergarten position; will be making offer to candidate from South Africa; recruiter will assist with visa requirements.
Activities Director Report by Mr. Hagler: Presented cost estimate from North Central Builders, Inc. and construction components to be covered by TCMC ($49,717) for the press box construction project. Reviewed estimate components and cost to be paid by NS ($14,000+) and discussed additional features to be requested (including a urinal and floor drains in ground floor rooms and baseboard heat in press box).
Old Business: Nancy Reiser briefed the board on the two recommended candidates for the superintendent position,followed by remote interviews of each candidate by the full board and non-board committee members. After the interviews, candidate qualifications and interview presentations were discussed by the board, and a secret ballot vote was taken that unanimously chose Aimee Zachrison as the finalist for the superintendent position.
MOTION by Gibbens, seconded by Wagenman, to offer the superintendent position to Aimee Zachrison, with employment package details pending a proposal by the negotiating committee. MOTION CARRIED on a roll call vote: Doehler-yes, Gibbens-yes, Halley-yes, Jorde-yes, Larson-yes, Wagenman-yes, Jacksen-yes. Next meeting is May 17, 2023 at 7:00 a.m. in the shop classroom.
