Day #147 @ NS 4.5.2019

Friday April 5, 2019                                                                                              Day #147 (A)

-Reminder that we will be ringing the bell at 8:15 AM and then again at 8:33 AM to go to your 1st hour class.  Announcements will be done as usual.  A bell will ring at 3:26 PM as normal but we will not be done until the bell rings after that.

-Congratulations to the instrumental students for their fine performances yesterday at Langdon. 10 out of 14 groups starred. Forty North Star students will now be competing in vocals and instrumentals at the State Music contest in Bismarck on May 4.

-The gym will be closed today for Prom decorating.

-The Prom is Saturday night with the Grand March at 8:00 PM.  The doors will open for viewing at EXACTLY 7:30 PM.

-After Prom Party starts at 12:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 a.m. Doors will close at 12:15 a.m. If you have signed up and no longer plan to attend please let Mrs. Reiser know.

-State FCCLA will be in Bismarck Sunday thru Tuesday.

-Baseball game in New Rockford on Monday at 4:30 PM.  They will leave at 2:30 PM.

-Girls golfers will have practice on Monday from 4:00 -5:30 at the golf course.

-Young Writers Conference is tomorrow in Devils Lake.  That bus will leave at 8:00 AM and return at 2:45 PM.

North Star Scholars Continuing Education Scholarship

North Star Scholars Continuing Education Scholarship

The North Star Scholars Continuing Education scholarship is now available. Any student who graduated from North Star and is pursuing a degree at a post-secondary institution may apply for the scholarship. The scholarship deadline is April 15. Late applications will not be accepted.

The application can be picked up in the main office at the school or you may contact Mrs. Teubner via email (karmen.teubner@k12.nd.us) to have an electronic copy sent to you.

Day #129 @ NS 3.11.2019

-The Big Ball Tournament will be held tomorrow starting at 4:00 PM. Teams are made up of 6 individuals and can have no more than 3 boys and the cost is $6 per team.

-The Local Art show is at the Cando Art Center from March 7-March 17. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 PM to 4 PM.  There will also be an Artist’s Open House on Wednesday, March 13 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

-Hunter Safety Classes will start tonight at 7:00 PM at the Armory.  You may register online at ND Fish and Wildlife website.

-The ACT test for the junior is tomorrow.  Students must be at Masonic Lodge by 8:00 AM.

-The Sophomores will have CPR/First Aid training tomorrow in the band room.  Report to your first hour class.

-Robotics team will leave on Wednesday for their regional competition in Grand Forks.

-Thursday is the end of the third nine weeks.

-The last day of the city bus route will be on Thursday.

-No School on Friday for our Spring Break.

-Lunch dismissal for the week.  First group is 8th then 7th.  Second group is 12th, 11th, 10th, and 9th.

-Prom is on April 6th, the sign up in the office, cost is $25 for a couple and $15 for a single. Please pay and sign up by March 22nd.

-After Prom Party sign up is in the office, this is free and open to any North Star students in grades 9-12. It will be held at the school. You can also purchase an After Prom t-shirt for $8.00 if you would like. Please sign up and pay for these by March 18.

-Youth basketball for boys in grades 3-5 will be today from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

-Speech practice today at 3:30 p.m. in room 110. The Speech team has a meet in Harvey on Saturday; that bus will leave at 6:30 AM.

-Pennies for Patients is this week. There will be prizes for the elementary and high school classes that collect the most donations. Students in grades 7-12 can pay $1 to get out of the last twenty minutes of 6th hour on Friday. The Big Ball Tournament will be held on Tuesday, March 12. -Teacher meetings tomorrow at 8:00 AM for both the elementary teachers and the HS teachers.

-Youth basketball for boys in grades 3-5 will be on Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

-We have a couple youth hockey teams playing in state tournaments this weekend.  Good luck to those students.

-SADD will be using the gym on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. There is also a SADD Meeting on Monday morning at 8:00 AM.
