Day #182 @ NS 5.21.2020

-We made it!

-Graduation practice today at 1:30 PM.  Graduation is looking like it will be on Saturday or Friday evening.  We will have a final decision after graduation practice today.

-Graduation will be on the FB Field and only the graduates and the others they have in their vehicle will be allowed on the FB Field.  Other spectators may park in the limit parking areas on the north side of the FB Field.  Spectators may view from the vehicle or from a chair on the track.  Vulnerable people should not attend the ceremony, it is being webcasted.  No congregating before or after the ceremony and no running around.

-The last day of school and meal deliveries will be today.

-The School Board Election that is scheduled for June 9th will be done by absentee vote only. There is a form on the North Star Website and the North Star Facebook page that will need to be filled out. Soon to be forms at businesses around town. If you have any questions, contact the school.

-The school playground is not sanitized and if you must use the playground you should wipe equipment and keep social distance of 6 or more feet.

-The dribble challenge and math challenge have ended. (Dribbles finished at 1,112,204.)  The winners of the dribble challenge were Gracie F, Amiya B, Genevieve A, and Karsen S.  Honorable Mention with the dribble challenge were McKenzie L, Maria H, Asher H, Jorie A, Jacob R, Wyatt M, and Sofia J.

-The Math Challenge winners were the Frey Family, Doll Family, Hillier Family, and the Jeff Peters Family.  Thank you for participating.

-If you are interested in purchasing Yearbook, please contact Mrs. Frey or Bella. 2020 Yearbooks can be purchased for $43 until the end of the year.

-Supply bring back will take place today.  The times will be from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

-The dribble challenge will continue.  As of this morning we are at 1,103,204 dribbles. We have reached our goal but are encouraging everyone to keep dribbling through tomorrow.  We will have prizes.

-There is a form on the NS Webpage for students that plan on participating in VB, FB, GBB, and BBB to fill out for the 2020-21 school year.  Normally there are meetings with these groups at the end of the school year to discuss open gyms, team camps, acceleration etc.  We need information so we can contact participants this summer to let them know when we are able to begin open gyms or weightlifting.  The form is for students that will be in grades 7-12 in 2020-21.

Graduations Plans (2019-2020)

Outdoor Graduation (May 24, 2020) or May 23, 2020

-Students, parents, grandparents, etc (those that will be allowed on FB Field) will line up in front of the school in vehicles.  Only the people in each car will be allowed onto the FB field.

-Vehicles will be lined up in order according to how the graduates will be announced.

-At 3:00 PM the vehicles will proceed to the west side of the FB field.

-Once every graduate vehicle is parked, those in the vehicle will get out and wait for the processional song to begin.  The family on the north end first followed by the next family and so on.

-There will be pods of 5 chairs for families and their graduate to sit together.  If another chair is needed, we will be flexible.  We DO NOT want someone walking in from the north end of the FB field to sit with families.

We will have everyone return to their vehicles before we announce the graduating class of 2020 so that everyone can honk their horns and flash their lights.

Parade down Main Street

Spectators will park their cars on the north side of the FB field, not on the track.  Also parking on the north end of the crow’s nest.  We will have some chairs set up on the track, six feet apart, spectators will be encouraged to stay in their vehicle.

We will need law enforcement to help with the closing of the streets.

NOTES:

-We are planning on the ceremony taking place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24 however if the forecast on Saturday, May 23 looks better we would like to move it to that day. We should know by Thursday, May 21.

-We will webcast the ceremony on www.northstar.k12.nd.us

-Young children in attendance must stay by your group and not run around during the ceremony.  Anyone running around before, during, or after the ceremony will be asked to leave.

-People who are sick should not attend the graduation ceremony. This includes students, their families, and school staff members.

-Members of vulnerable population groups should not attend the graduation ceremony. This includes the elderly, individuals with serious underlying health conditions, or those with weakened immune systems.

-Masks and gloves are recommended for those attending.
